Dateline: On the Cusp Of the Great Plains

For those of you worried about my absence, never fear. My sabbatical was spent communing with the Caterpillars and brought forth a glorious burst of insight currently being poured into the dictation of more of Hatter Madigan’s adventures. Red, as my Caterpillar was known, graciously divined another snatch of the perilous, tumbling adventures of our hatted friend.

On a sad note, Dear Boris wandered into jabberwocky territory and was promptly confronted by one of the beasts. Though a valiant battle ensued, the brave knight burst into a gout of flame. His ashes will be displayed here at the Institute for further study. Perhaps one day the mystics and inventors will tell us how to reconstitute his gentle soul. Coincidentally, just as we were trying to keep Col. Barlowe from sniffing the White Imagination from the ashes, a pitter-patter knock came from the direction of the door. A bespectacled Miss Emily was still wiping the snow from her carefully perched hat. “I’m here for the position.” How she knew of our Boris’ demise I can only speculate. Mr. Beddor consulted the Heart Crystal, the Caterpillars and all manner of logic and artifacts before he realized Miss Emily had already been working here for quite some time now. She had shuttled him off to San Francisco to meet the Wondrous Wonderconers and to Phoenix to the gathering at Mesa, to her former home of New York to see if gromworrmies could survive the cold. I myself found strange drawings, ancient texts and all manner of wonderful wonderness appearing when I only had the faintest idea I needed it. She should do well here. I will keep an eye on her.

Mr. Beddor’s desert scribblings have been collected, coded and wrapped. Those of you in the know, know the third volume is out October 15th.  Maybe some black imagination was tossed our way, the reports of several titles leaked and sloshed around the Internets, but All became clear when Alyss officially titled the work “ArchEnemy”.  Ever the humble servant Mr. Beddor complied.

Col. Barlowe has been locked in his garret and only a dull glow can be seen beneath the door. We hear muttering about cards but we don’t know if they’re real or imaginary. Maybe the cardsoldierwars site will soon have answers. He has, however brought us a luminary new piece of wizardry. His iPhone plays a little Hatter M game. How they fit a Millinery hat into so small a device is beyond my understanding. But it is amusing. Maybe  we will all fit in the device some day.

For now Mr. Beddor has dipped off the map again. We hear of a great pilgrimage to the corn section of our country. If anyone can confirm sightings of him, let us know. We like to know our cipher of Wonderland is safe.

An invigorated,

Dateline: Tokyo

Pour the tea and pass the tarty tarts the party is about to begin. As a minor eccentricity I would like to play this youtube music video to add to the ambiance.

As a research question does anyone recognize the origin of this minor masterpiece? It is true you know…the world is so much stranger…so much darker…so much better….than anyone ever tells you.I have been deeply immersed in a cache of scrolls written in the language we have identified as originating in Wonderland. They were recently unearthed in a Tokyo temple and have only now wiped the ancient dust from my hands to join you here. Hopefully the workload from Mr. Beddor’s discoveries will lighten sufficiently for our gatherings to become more regular and more meaningful. If anyone has any topics or questions they would like to see addressed in my next post let me know. I must excuse myself now for a steamy communal bath and a tall hot saki since it is the local custom and I do not wish to offend…

Greetings from the LGW Library!

Picture if you will, the towering shelves of ancient texts, stone walls covered with  crumbling maps of lost worlds and the intricate crystal mobiles depicting parallel universes that surround me as I sit pondering the deep questions we all ask ourselves in the quiet isolation of our own Imaginations.

However, as much enjoyment as we all get from our imaginations and the companionship of an excellent book, there are still those times in the day when most would enjoy the company of literate, forward thinking friends that share our enthusiasms and sense of adventure. In answer to this void I have decided to create a blog for the discerning fans and friends of LGW.

Some of you may wonder what my duties as LGW librarian include.  Well, first and foremost, I am not one of those librarians who hiss ‘Shhhhhh’ all day.  I am a research librarian and much of my time is spent assisting Mr. Beddor uncovering facts and validating the intricate paper trail documenting Alyss’s adventures both in Wonderland and our world. At the present time, he is deeply immersed in writing book 3 of the LGW trilogy. Of course it is all very top secret and I am sworn to keep my lips sealed, however,  there may be times that I cannot keep from sharing a thought or two on what is to come.

Other topics I will muse on include further evidence of the Lewis Carroll conspiracy to suppress the truth, news of the Hatter M Institute and their boisterous all day luncheons, the adventures of my good friend and literary sleuth Agnes MacKenzie, new and old books I highly recommend, worthy websites to visit and news of the progress of the LGW film (Question: Which A list actress has been knocking at our office door hoping for an audition? She even baked muffins!  I told her, next time bake tarty tarts and you might have a chance.)

And of course, I look forward to visits from the ‘Readers Who Write’ since the whole point of this blog is to create an intellectually stimulating tea party for fantasists, futurists and LGW fanatics.

The LGW booth will be at the Phoenix Comic-Con this weekend January 26-27.  Liz Cavalier (co-author of the Hatter M comic series) will be tending the booth so if you are in town stop by and say hello.  I’ve asked her to please stay alert to all interesting adventures, curious sightings and unusual happenings so that I may share them here with you.

Long Live Alyss!
